Background

DamascusSteel started appearing in the YouTube comments in late 2024, however has become more prolific throughout 2025, amassing several hundreds of comments during the second half of 2025, in many popular scientific YouTube channels, including SciManDan, Conspiracy Toonz, MCToon Live and Dave McKeegan.
DamascusSteel operates no less than 16 other YouTube personas (list below) and has on several occasions been caught liking his own comments, and talking to himself via his sock puppet accounts. The reason for this highly unusual behaviour is unknown and DamascusSteel has refused to comment on numerous occasions, however it is likely that he uses multiple accounts in order to give the appearance that he has supporters, and evade bans/YouTube comment restrictions.
When challenged on his claims, he refuses to provide coherent answers, deflects, and projects his intellectual inadequacies onto other commenters. When he becomes especially triggered, he admits defeat by resorting to childish insults.
Known Accounts/Aliases

DamascusSteel operates several known aliases on YouTube, which he has on several occasions confirmed. However in recent times, he has been attempting to distance himself from prior admissions, for reasons unknown.
Colloquially, DamascusSteel (and his sock puppet accounts) is known as "Dammy" or "DUMBASScusSteel".

He has recently begun posting more of his misinformation and lies within the "posts" section of his primary YouTube account, as many of his comments from within videos are either hidden or removed due to spam or misleading content.
Personal Life & Mental Health

DamascusSteel appears to be unemployed and spends most waking hours spamming YouTube comments with lies and misinformation. As he is a habitual liar, he has been caught-out on several occasions forgetting which lies he has told and with which accounts. He is estimated to be between 15 and 20 years of age and is likely living in the United States (based on his use of language). His actual name is not known.
DamascusSteel has claimed to hold a college degree, however has not provided any further information or evidence to support this claim. It is highly likely that at best he has a elementary school level of education and did not finish secondary school. Other than his lack of understanding of the physical world he lives in, his language skills are consistent with a 6 to 10 year old's level, lacking basic spelling and punctuation, and exhibits poor reading comprehension skills.
Like many flerfs, DamascusSteel appears to be suffering from severe mental illness in the form of Delusional Disorder, and exhibits telltale traits of one or more personality disorders. He is also likely suffering from learning difficulties as a result.
In his YouTube comments, DamascusSteel appears to act alone. He has no known allies or supporters which also likely extends to his life outside the internet based on his behaviour. DamascusSteel operates his own YouTube channel which has no content other than his community posts, with the sole purpose of posting misinformation to his subscribers, which currently sits at a total of 6 users. Those users are likely to be primarily or entirely made up of his sock puppet accounts.
DamascusSteel is a fan of Nathan Oakley.
Claims
Flat Earth
Not surprisingly, DamascusSteel believes the Earth is flat, but is unable to provide any evidence for this claim.
The Shrinking Sun
DamascusSteel's primary claim is that the sun does not rise or set beyond the horizon, and does not maintain the same angular size throughout the day. Despite observable reality, DamascusSteel claims that the setting sun shrinks to the size of a small dot, before disappearing completely. His explanation for this is that the sun moves "beyond the limit of vision", but is unable to provide any calculations or measurements on what this supposed limit is. He also can't explain why the sun cannot be "zoomed back" into view with a zoom lens or telescope.
Distance to the Sun
Another common claim by DamascusSteel is that the sun is 6000 miles away from Earth, but as usual, has no measurements or evidence to support this claim. When asked about elevation angles, he gets confused, deflects and begins to cope.
Dismissing Video Evidence of a Sunrise
After demanding to see video proof that the sun rises from beyond the horizon, DamascusSteel was provided a video showing the sun rising in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The sunrise video is recorded daily from Mount Wellington, approximately 1270 metres above sea level and has a clear, unobstructed 360-degree view. In the video, the sun is clearly seen rising from beyond the horizon, however DamascusSteel blindly dismissed this, instead making the false claim that the sun is seen to "triple in size as it moves from 6000 miles away to 2000 miles".
The Final Experiment

DamascusSteel has made several false and fabricated claims, both on his own channel and in YouTube comments, regarding The Final Experiment and the group's trip to Antarctica to witness and document the 24-hour sun in December 2024. According to Dammy, TFE was merely "theatrics to defraud people on an international level by an organized cult group" and has made the claim that Will Duffy and MCToon "have committed an intentional crime by an organized cult group in Antarctica by defying the Antarctica Treaty which makes what they did illegal by using Antarctica as the stage for this idiotic crime they have committed".
In a post made on his own channel, Dammy claims that one "won’t see any armed guards at the airports if you went there legally", apparently in an attempt to make the claim that the only reason the TFE team may have seen armed personnel at the airport, was because they travelled "illegally", a claim which is demonstrably false and misleading.
Throughout the latter part of 2025, DamascusSteel claims to be collecting "evidence" in preparation for a court case against TFE, as he believes that proving the Earth is a globe amounts to "fraud".
GPS
DamascusSteel does not understand how the Global Positioning System (GPS) works. On several occasions, he has falsely claimed that "GPS is not provided by satellites", instead every ship and land-based tower transmits the GPS signal. When challenged as to why GPS continues to operate in the absence of any tower or vessel, or why GPS antennas point upward towards the sky, he deflects and refuses to provide answers.
Earth has a "Flat Curve"

On 4 September 2025, during a conversation about Earth's curvature being visible from some commercial flights, he asked how one can see a "flat curve on a ball" (referring to the globe Earth). When asked what he meant by "flat curve", he would deflect and run away whenever the question was asked. To-date, we still don't know what he meant by a "flat curve".
Science-based YouTube Channels are "Failing"
A new false claim by DamascusSteel began surfacing mid-to-late November 2025, which has become a routine part of his repertoire includes claiming that science-based YouTube channels, such as SciManDan and MCToon are "failing" following The Final Experiment, despite channel statistics showing otherwise. In 2024 and 2025 alone, subscriptions to SciManDan increased by almost 140,000 new users, with MCToon Live/Conspiracy Toonz experiencing about 22,000 new subscribers in the same period. Video viewership on both channels have also seen significant increases in engagement.
Lunar Eclipses are a "New Invention"
In December 2025, DamascusSteel claimed (in a public comment on one of SciManDan's videos) that "lunar eclipses didn't exist until a few years ago [2006]" and denies that they prove that Earth is a globe. He also claimed that supermoons "stopped coming every 14 months [and] now they come 4 times a year".
Radiofrequency Doesn't Travel Through a Vacuum
In January 2026, DamascusSteel claimed publicly that "a [radio] signal cannot travel through an empty void".
Challenges & Debates
DamascusSteel is well known for challenging other users, or wanting to debate, however whenever anyone accepts his challenge, he either fails to provide details, finds an excuse not to participate, or runs away and hides until the debate is over.
Dammy's Beach Challenge
Throughout 2025, DamascusSteel has "challenged" multiple users, including prominent YouTube creators to "meet him at the beach" to observe the sunset. He is unable to explain why or for what purpose, but seems fixated on this challenge. It is suspected that he has never visited the beach before, and he is looking for some grown-ups to take him, however this is unconfirmed.
MCToon Live Stream - 19 November 2025
On 19/11/2025, MCToon conducted a live stream with an open invite to any Flat Earther to join him to debate any topic of their choosing. DamascusSteel was made aware of this live stream, but refused to participate. After the debate ended, he continued asking people to debate him.
MCToon Live Stream - 26 November 2025
After DamascusSteel made several demands to debate MCToon, on 26/11/2025 he was given a second opportunity to do so either in-person or virtually via Zoom. MCToon specifically invited DamascusSteel onto his show to debate any topic of his choosing. DamascusSteel was provided with both a physical address and a Zoom meeting link where he could freely join the discussion. In this very special DamascusSteel episode of MCToon Live (titled "Rise of the Mentally Ill Flerfs"), DamascusSteel participated in the text chat, but refused to debate MCToon, and refused to join the Zoom meeting. After almost 3 hours of hiding from MCToon, the stream ended and no debate occurred.
MCToon Sunset Challenge - February 2026
DamascusSteel has made several more demands to "challenge" MCToon to meet him at the shore to observe the sunset. MCToon has accepted the challenge and it has been agreed that DamascusSteel would meet MCToon in-person in Pensacola, Florida between 23/02/2026 and 27/02/2026. The meet has been advertised publicly on YouTube and on this page: Meetup_Pensacola_2026-02.
The location chosen is Pensacola Beach, Florida USA, which includes a 400 metre long pier which features elevated, unobstructed views south towards the Gulf of Mexico (30°19'38.2"N 87°08'31.0"W). Pensacola Beach is close to transportation and several hotels which can be easily and cheaply booked due to it being the off-season.
The primary goal is to record the size of the sun as it sets. This will be done using a solar filter. The location is selected to have a direct view to the sun as it sets over the Gulf of America.
There is a dinner to follow afterwards.
DamascusSteel has publicly accepted this challenge, and even advised MCToon to ensure he gets "a permit for people to gather on a beach to do an event like this so the cops don’t stop it" (although one is not required).
On 23 January 2026, DamascusSteel made a public comment claiming that the challenge was "invalid" because Pensacola Beach, wasn't a "beach location". Since accepting the challenge, DamascusSteel has made numerous other comments in an attempt to invalidate the challenge and weasel his way out of attending, whilst simultaneously claiming that McToon had already "cheated".
Controversy
DamascusSteel has been previously accused of merely being an internet troll, however those don't seem to be supported by evidence, as he consistently and convincingly demonstrates that he actually believes his own misinformation and lies.
