Poe's Law

Poe's Law states that it is impossible to distinguish between parody of absurd ideas and genuine expression of absurd ideas without clear indication of the author's intent.

Poe's Law is especially relevant in flerf discussions because there is an extremely fine line between satire of flat Earth and sincere flat Earth beliefs. If a flerf expresses ideas that are of a particular degree of stupidity, they are often suspected of being a Poe (i.e., a rather convincing satirist).
