Meetup Details
MCToon is hosting a meetup the week of February 23-27, 2026 in Pensacola Beach, FL.
The meetup will be on the first day that has a forecast for a clear sky during sunset. Hopefully Monday. If there is no day with a clear forecast, the meetup will happen on Friday regardless.
The primary goal is to record the size of the sun as it sets. This will be done using a solar filter. The location is selected to have a direct view to the sun as it sets over the Gulf of America.
There is a public pier that has a great view to the west. This is the preferred location.
Pensacola Beach Pier
However, if it's windy it might be sub optimal. The beach immediately west of the pier is the fall back location.

After sunset we will head to "The Dock" for dinner. They have inside and outside seating. Everyone is welcome. MCToon will even let DamascusSteel pay for his dinner. The Dock
The day will be Monday, February 23. MCToon will be at the pier starting around 4pm.

Note from MCTOON: Crabby’s Oceanside is in Daytona beach. On the east side of Florida. There is no unobstructed view of sunset from there. And it’s hundreds of miles from Pensacola Beach.
