Mark Sargent is an American conspiracy theorist and prominent proponent of the flat Earth theory. He gained significant attention with his 2015 YouTube series, "Flat Earth Clues," which questions the established understanding of Earth's shape.

The Accidental Convert (Or: How to Fail Your Way to the Top)

Mark's origin story is the flat Earth equivalent of slipping on a banana peel and accidentally becoming a cult leader. In 2014, he tried to debunk a flat Earth video—yes, you read that correctly—and failed so spectacularly at debunking it that he accidentally convinced himself. This is like trying to disprove Bigfoot by going into the woods, tripping over something hairy, and emerging as the president of the Bigfoot Fan Club.

His excuse? Being single. No, really—Mark credits his discovery of flat Earth to having "a huge amount of free time on his hands." Apparently marriage and children are the only things standing between most of us and believing Antarctica is an ice wall from Game of Thrones.

The "Flatties" Awards

In 2016, Mark co-hosted the "Flatties" with Patricia Steere—a self-congratulatory award show where flat Earthers gave themselves trophies for YouTube videos. The award was a gold-painted figure holding a flat Earth on its shoulders, which is either symbolic or just what happens when you have too much free time and access to craft supplies.

Mark's acceptance speech for awards he couldn't win (he was disqualified as a host) included references to Stanley Kubrick, The Shining, and how the printing press was invented to "get lies into minds." You know, normal award show stuff.

Current Status

Still living on Whidbey Island, still seeing Seattle when he shouldn't, still calling Neil deGrasse Tyson "He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named" like a wizard who did math at him. Recently spent time making defamatory videos about former flat Earthers who escaped the cult, because nothing recruits new members like publicly attacking people who realized you were wrong.

Defamation Cease and Desist 2025

On March 27, 2025 Mark, David Weiss, and 2 unnamed others received a cease and desist request on behalf of Robbie Davidson, Paul Lindberg, and Patricia Steere.[1] This is because Mark had made false accusations against them in recent videos because they left the flat earth cult. Mark appeared on a livestream discussing the notification on March 28, 2025. [2] [3]
