Meetup Details

Pensacola 2026-02 Predictions

MCToon is hosting a meetup February 23, 2026 in Pensacola Beach, FL.

The primary goal is to record the size of the sun as it sets. This will be done using a solar filter. The location is selected to have a direct view to the sun as it sets over the Gulf of America.

There is a public pier that has a great view to the west. This is the preferred location.

However, if it's windy it might be sub optimal. The beach immediately west of the pier is the fall back location.

After sunset we will head to "The Dock" for dinner. They have inside and outside seating. Everyone is welcome. MCToon will even let DamascusSteel pay for his dinner. The Dock

The day will be Monday, February 23. MCToon will be at the pier starting around 4pm.

The sun will set between 17:43 and 17:46 local time at 259° to 261° West, depending on the day.

Prediction of Damascus' presence

DamascusSteel will absolutely not show up, and blame Toon for it.

On 22 Februrary 2026 (UTC), DamascusSteel claims he is already in Pensacola, Florida, but has not yet provided any evidence that this is true.

Note from MCTOON: Crabby’s Oceanside is in Daytona beach. On the east side of Florida. There is no unobstructed view of sunset from there. And it’s hundreds of miles from Pensacola Beach.

From SourPounder: Apologies, I do not know this area at all, and thought Damascus was referring to the 2nd restaurant called "Crabs" that was listed previously as a secondary(backup) dinner spot. I have requested further confirmation from Damascus as to his precise location. Cheers.
