Talk:Star trails
"Add a screenshot from Dubay's video where he has text on the screes talking about Polaris being stationary or something similar while showing the arc of Polaris. This is maybe in the 200 proofs video."
I'll search for a better one later, it is #150: If Earth were a spinning ball it would be impossible to photograph star-trail time-lapses turning perfect circles around Polaris anywhere but the North Pole. At all other vantage points the stars would be seen to travel more or less horizontally across the observer’s horizon due to the alleged 1000mph motion beneath their feet. In reality, however, Polaris’s surrounding stars can always be photographed turning perfect circles around the central star all the way down to the Tropic of Capricorn.
(or #98 and #100)
I just hope that you realise the pains and traumas we have to endure to get this information. (Let's hope there is a good screenshot in the Greater Sapien video)
BTW I have a crappy video of Polaris rotating: Polaris moving I should remake that one with a more appropriate field of view, weather permitting. But surely there are others that have done it better in clearer unpolluted skies.
