Flat earth taught in schools
Many flerfs believe that American schools once taught flat earth, and then within living memory they changed to teach the globe.
Far from having any credible support, this claim sharply contradicts the united witness of history. Western civilization has known the earth was a globe since ancient times, and no accredited American school has ever denied the globe in its curriculum.

This lie seems to have been contrived by Dave Weiss. There is a video of him exploiting an elderly woman to repeat it on camera, as if she is an eyewitness recalling these events.[1][2][3]
The woman’s name was Ruth Heath. It is not known whether:
- she was coached by Weiss;
- she is relating a corrupted memory of the well-documented myth about when the globe was discovered, which was taught incorrectly in American schools and textbooks even into the 21st century; or
- she is exhibiting some other type of confabulation or dementia.
In any of the above cases, Dave Weiss using her for content could be considered a type of elder abuse.
