Meetup Details
MCToon is hosting a meetup the week of February 23-27, 2026 in Pensacola Beach, FL.
The meetup will be on the first day that has a forecast for a clear sky during sunset. Hopefully Monday. If there is no day with a clear forecast, the meetup will happen on Friday regardless.
The primary goal is to record the size of the sun as it sets. This will be done using a solar filter. The location is selected to have a direct view to the sun as it sets over the Gulf of America.
There is a public pier that has a great view to the west. This is the preferred location.

However, if it's windy it might be sub optimal. The beach immediately west of the pier is the fall back location.
Beach West of Pier
After sunset we will head to "The Dock" for dinner provided it's warm. The Dock
If it's too cold we will enjoy dinner at Crabs Seafood. Crabs Seafood
The day will be announced here as will the restaurant.
Prediction of Sunset
The sun will set between 17:43 and 17:46 local time at 259° to 261° West, depending on the day.
Damascus
Damascus promised to be there.
Damascus Excuses
Permit
Damascus claims they need a permit for more than 35 people. Considering that it's unlikely for 35 people to show up, that is not an issue, even if his claim was true.
Damascus is so stupid that he thinks Toon needs a permit because there are other people that have nothing to do with the meetup.
