Eclipse 2026-03-03

The eclipse of 2026-03-03 was predicted using the globe and solar system geometry long, long ago. In 2020 the book Eclipse Almanac 2021 to 2030 was published. The time the moon would enter and exit the shadow, the location on the globe were it would be visible, the portion of the shadow that the moon would go through were all predicted well in advance.

Not only that, but being a lunar eclipse there is always the global requirement that there be an area of the globe where the selenelion eclipse can be seen. The selenelion is where an observer can see both the eclipsing moon and the sun simultaneously on opposite horizons. This happens at sunset for one areas of the globe and at sunrise at the portion of the globe about 180° opposite.
