On August 5 at 06:35 UTC, the upper stage of a Falcon 9 rocket launched in January 2025 is expected to impact the Moon near the Einstein Crater. It may create a visible impact flash and dust plume.

The stage is around the size of a five-storey building and weighs around 4,000 kg.

Bill Gray, the astronomer that discovered the trajectory, predicts an impact crater about 17m wide.[1]
