Far from having any credible support, this claim sharply contradicts the united witness of history. Western civilization has known the Earth is a globe since ancient times, and no accredited American school has ever denied the globe in its curriculum.

This lie seems to have been contrived by Dave Weiss. There is a video of him exploiting an elderly woman to repeat it on camera, as if she is an eyewitness recalling these events.[1][2][3][4] Sean Hibbeler featured the video in The Next Level (2022).
The woman’s name was Ruth Heath. It is not known whether:
- she was coached by Weiss,
- she is relating a corrupted memory of the well-documented myth about when the globe was discovered, which was taught incorrectly in American schools and textbooks even into the 21st century, or
- she is exhibiting some other type of confabulation or dementia.
In any of the above cases, Dave Weiss using her for content could be considered a type of elder abuse.
