When you go up in an Airplane and get to the same height as the clouds, all the clouds are level.
Perspective. When you rise in elevation, you see more in the distance, especially if an object that was slightly obscured previously when lower.
And the classic(Potato head anybody), the Horizon always rises to eye level.
