Stanley Kubrick

Moon landing deniers are not truthers. If they were they would investigate things. They are easily fooled by intentional fakes like the fake Stanley Kubrick "confession video". It's from a movie called Shooting Stanley Kubrick in 2015. The actor playing Kubrick is Tom Mayk.

The website for the fake documentary gives it away. It claims the interview was May 1999 and that Kubrick died 3 days after the interview. But no flerf will ever ask themselves "when did Kubrick die?" I'll leave it to you, dear reader, to ask and answer this question for yourself. Ironically, the correct date is on the web page.

In the raw footage from the faked interview the director is coaching the actor how to answer. The interviewer refers to the actor by name, "Tom".

Stanley Kubrick was a perfectionist. He knew how to mic and light people. The subject of this video, the person being interviewed, does not have a mic. Why would Stanley Kubrick, a professional at micing people, not insist on a mic on himself? Why would he allow the lighting to be so bad? Why would he allow someone to call him "Tom"?

Since flat earthers are anti-truthers, they will never watch the raw footage. It contradicts their preselected conclusion.

Compare the face

Look for yourself. Start with Kubrick. The bags under the eyes. The eyebrows. The rest of the face. Then the hairline. The fake clips stay in close-up and crop the hairline out. A hairline that does not match is the kind of difference you cannot talk past. They are not the same person, and that crop is doing the hiding.

With Cruise and Kidman (Eyes Wide Shut, 1996-98)

The fakes

Both of these are Tom Mayk in Shooting Stanley Kubrick. The frame stays on the beard and the glasses.

The raw footage

The tape from before the cut. The interviewer is still directing him. Comments on that upload mark the spots.

• 24:12. "It's common sense, Tom."
• 36:06, 36:13, and 36:50. He is feeding the actor lines. At 36:50 he says he is just giving lines, then "look over here, look over here." Pages are turning. They are reading it.
• 1:19:30. He tells the actor how to move, and how to imitate Kubrick. The directions are still going at 1:19:33.
• The voice is not Kubrick's. Take off the hair and the beard and the face is not his at that age. Half the face stays hidden.

Family and estate

His widow, Christiane Kubrick, and the estate rejected the tape in 2015.

• Reuters quotes Christiane (via a Black Bag interview that year): "The interview is a lie, Stanley Kubrick has never been interviewed by T. Patrick Murray the whole story is made up, fraudulent & untrue."
• Snopes, 11 December 2015, and Full Fact give that same sentence to a spokesperson for her. Full Fact says the spokesperson told Gawker.
