Searching for his quote "The equatorial meridian is an imaginary line that circles the Earth at 0 degrees latitude, dividing it into the Northern and Southern ." yielded no exact, or even close results. However, replacing ''equatorial meridian'' with ''equator'' returns this in the second hit:

According to his profile, Angle of Elevation (AoE) joined YouTube on 12th August 2013. He has a few dozen videos.
He can be a prolific contributor on Nathan Oakley's comment section and live chats. However, he has spells where he goes AWOL, only to pop up again as if nothing happened. His disappearances could reasonably be explained by him complying with his medication regime, or by forced residence in a mental institution.

One thing that makes him stand out is his insistence that his strange version of physics and geometry is absolutely correct, while the textbooks and scientific literature are all wrong. He will demand proof/evidence while supplying none of his own and accuse people of "making stuff up" while clearly and demonstrably doing this himself.

When cornered, he has the typical flerf reactions; he'll deflect, change the subject, come up with an insult, or just go quiet. When forced, he may stay on topic for a while and then disappear.

Spelling and grammar too are typical of a flerf; dreadful.

Note, only he has the correct understanding of any physical phenomenon. He will proudly proclaim this and ignore any authoritative citation you can give.

It is safe to say that flat earthers and the rest of civilisation agree that the latitude/longitude coordinate system accurately maps locations on the Earth; after all, they make a lot of noise about celestial navigation proving the earth is flat. It's also the basis of mapping, including GPS.

Mention ''equator'' to flerfs and they will often deny its existence, or point out that it's not a real line on the face of the earth, or some other panic measure. Which is odd, because they can't deny the 0° circle of latitude as it is a feature of the celestial navigation they love so much, despite it being part of the spherical coordinate system. The equator is, of course, the 0° circle of latitude.

Asking for the length/circumference of the equator/0° circle of latitude inevitably leads to deflection and denial. There is a good reason for this; the answer leads to the falsification of the flat earth model.

Anyone who disputes the measurement can look on Google Maps themselves and if they are still sceptical, could drive along it and check the odometer.

Using this, we can make another simple calculation of the length of the equator. There are

60 x 360 = 21,600

minutes of arc in a full circle. To convert this to km, multiply by the length:

21,600 x 1.9 = 41,0400 km

Putting all this together, we can compare all the results.

On January 10, 2025 Richard and Robert Robinson, The Robinson Twins visited Lake Tahoe visited Lake Tahoe and got video and photographs across the lake. Here is the resort from a short distance:

The resort was partially obstructed. There were not inferior mirages as confirmed by the trees on the far shore. They are not mirrored or duplicated vertically.

On January 11, 2025 MCToon and the Robinson Twins returned to the same dock on the south shore and confirmed the distant shoreline was not visible.

Some flat earthers have discovered that this video shows some inferior mirages. Flat earthers claim that inferior mirages HIDE the bottoms of distant objects. However, when comparing the video from the previous day the same amount of the resort is visible. Some not inverted, some inverted. Nothing additional is revealed or hidden with or without the mirage. This defeats the claim that inferior mirages hide the bottom of distant objects. In fact it appears that inferior mirages may UNHIDE a small amount of the distance shore, the opposite what flerfs claim.

There is never an instance where the north shore is visible all the way to the water, including the dock, from the south shore as flat earth requires.

My wife and I took our dogs to the off-leash beach at Baldwin Beach in the South-West corner of Lake Tahoe. From the beach, I could see there was a house across the lake just North of Cave Rock on the Eastern shore (on The Ponderosa!). When I zoomed in with my phone’s camera to 100x, I could see that the house was partially hidden behind the horizon. As an avid viewer of your YouTube channel (and of the other FE debunkers as well), I thought that would make an excellent pic of something being hidden behind the horizon.

To me this is a better depiction of the horizon than ships going out to sea because the house is at a known, fixed position that can be verified. With ships, it’s hard to know the exact position when the photo was taken. Also, because the distance is only about 10 miles, it’s easy to resolve some detail in the house unlike that pic of Chicago across Lake Michigan. My pic clearly shows that the bottom floor and beach in front of the house are hidden.

The house is 9.7 miles away with more than 20 feet of the bottom of the house and beach hidden behind the water at the horizon. The camera is about 10 feet above the water (I'm 5’11” with the phone at eye level <smirk> and standing up the beach a bit so I guessed about 10” observer height) putting the horizon at about 3.8 miles away. (Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, 10x optical zoom, 10x digital zoom for 100x total)

This is a zoom sequence using the different cameras on the S22 Ultra from 1x optical, 3x optical, 10x optical, and 100x digital. Dammit, I should have waited for those dudes to get out of the shot! Anyway, you can see my position on the beach.

The eclipse of 2026-03-03 was predicted using the globe and solar system geometry long, long ago. In 2020 the book [https://a.co/d/0bX6A4ya Eclipse Almanac 2021 to 2030] was published. The time the moon would enter and exit the shadow, the location on the globe were it would be visible, the portion of the shadow that the moon would go through were all predicted well in advance.

This happens at sunset for one areas of the globe and at sunrise at the portion of the globe about 180° opposite.

Contrary to the lies from flerfs, the selenelion is not contrary to the globe, it's mandatory for the globe.

== Introduction ==

Stellar aberration is a change in the direction of incoming star light caused by lateral movement of the observer relative to the star. In some obsolete rsp. fringe theories, it is caused by the absolute motion of one or the other.

Stellar aberration should not be confused with stellar parallax, which is a change in the angle of incident light from nearby stars due to a change in the orbital position of Earth. It is a distinct effect and the light of a star can be affected by either or both. Important differences are:

* Stellar aberration is maximal when the Earth is moving laterally to the star's position on its orbit, and decreases to zero when the Earth is moving straight towards or away from the star. In contrast, stellar parallax of a star in the ecliptic plane is most easily measured between the points at which Earth is moving towards or away from the star.
* Stellar aberration does not depend on the distance to the star. In contrast, stellar parallax is only observed for "nearby" stars, which, depending on the available measurement precision, is at most in the hundreds of light years.

To summarize the difference in one sentence: Aberration is a ''velocity'' effect whereas parallax is a ''position'' effect.

Stellar aberration is also subject to a minor ''diurnal'' effect due to the tangential velocity of an observer on the rotating Earth, at less than polar latitudes.

Also, aberration affects sunlight and the light reflected off of planets, though the effect is usually discussed in the context of distant stars. (It is also tiny in comparison to the angular size of Sun and Moon as seen from Earth.)

== History ==

The discovery of stellar aberration in the late 17th century came as a surprise. Scientists were mainly looking for stellar parallax, potentially allowing for a triangulation of the distance of some stars and also confirming the still relatively young heliocentric model.

One of the first noteworthy measurements was that of [Eltanin|https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_Draconis] by Robert Hooke in 1674. At first, the measured deviation was not understood to be a separate phenomenon from parallax. Also, the propagation of light was neither well understood nor the focus of scientific inquiry at the time. Even after Ole Rømer measured the speed of light in 1676, and, in particular, demonstrated that it was ''not'' instantaneous, it took decades for scientists to draw a definitive connection between the angles at which stars appeared to be and the way that light propagates in a vacuum.

Once the significance of stellar aberration, and its distinctness from parallax, were understood, there were however a number of astronomical experiments that attempted to use the effect to distinguish between different theories of light propagation, namely emission theory, which treated light as a stream of particles inheriting momentum from the emitting object, and the undulatory theory of light (better known as aether theory), which treated light as a wave in a ubiquitous but "non-tangible" medium.

== Modern Scientific Explanation ==

In modern science, stellar aberration is understood to be consistent with, and quantitatively predicted by, the theory of special relativity. When a lateral Lorentz boost, i.e. a velocity addition, is performed to transform a ray of light from the inertial reference frame of a star to the inertial reference frame of an observer, the angle of propagation changes depending on said lateral speed. (The existence of "instantaneous" inertial frames is enough.)

However, one should be careful when citing stellar aberration ''alone'' as evidence for special relativity because aberration experiments are not precise enough to be specific towards testing relativity. In particular, while there is a relativistic formula that makes distinct predictions, the "classical" math, e.g. derivable from emission theory or from an aether in which the light source is stationary, still works extremely well in practice.

== Special Relativity Mathematics ==

Lake Pontchartrain Causeway or Lake Pontchartrain Bridge is 23.83-mile (38.35 km) twin-span bridge in southeastern Louisiana.

Glober legend [[Soundly]] made the causeway famous by shooting video and still photos of it with high zoom. The perspective foreshortening effect that occurs when using high zoom brought the curve of the earth into view. Much to the chagrin of flunts everywhere.

Flatties try and say we should see a curved horizon in the photo because see curve going away from us. Flatties will say "Are you saying we are on a cylinder earth?"
The mistake the Flunt makes is that the image we are viewing is very zoomed in. So we only see a tiny amount of horizion - not nearly enough to see any left to right curvature. But we see all the curve from where we are filming from to the horizon. Which is a lot of distance over which to observe curve.

A very common refrain is that "There is too much curvature". That is a natural response because the curve does look dramatic. We do not ever see this much curvature with our eyes. But this because we do not have zoom lenses in our eyes.
The flatty is never able to explain how they know that there is too much curvature. It is just a gut feeling they have because you never experience seeing something like this with the naked eye.

The only way to really determine if there is the right amount of curvature in the image is to use Computer modeling. Due to the development of computer 3D modeling for use in films we have the technology to create a model of a 3d object in a computer and then put a virtual camera in the 3D scene and put the virtual camera on the same zoom settings as a camera that is shooting in real life. This ability is known to work because it is the reason why real life scenes and CGI scenes in movies are able to be joined together and the computer generated objects blend with the real life scene perfectly.

So if we do this - generate a 3D model of the cause way and model it as if it was on a flat surface or if it was on a globe of radius 6,371km - and "film" that 3D model at the same zoom factor as we did in real life we can compare the two models with the image shot in reality.
